Why is the Supporting class only 90 minutes compared to the Starring class being 3 hours?
The first 90 minutes of every class is specifically geared to allow all skill levels a forum to learn and exercise their core acting fundamentals. Working together provides newer talent the opportunity to grow faster by interacting with more experienced talent. The second portion of the class concentrates solely on advanced exercises, therefore it is important for newer talent to master acting fundamentals prior to trying to absorb more complex techniques. We all have to learn how to crawl before we walk, and walk before we run.
Will I work in every class?
Yes. All classes are designed for everyone to participate. This is your forum to master fundamentals, work on new techniques and take risks to develop characters that will expand your acting tool kit.
Will I be taught or directed?
Both. You will also be coached. The entire curriculum has been developed to teach you acting techniques, direct your performances, and coach you to work beyond barriers and properly develop a business plan.
Will I be able to review the on-camera footage taken of my work?
Yes. During your private sessions your work will be discussed and your custom development plan will be executed.
Will Indy Actor Studio provide me an opportunity for advancement?
Absolutely. The goal of the programs and studio foundation is to make sure you are always growing and working with all levels of talent just as you will experience in the real world. If you have exceeded the goals designed in our workshops and private sessions then we believe the next logical step would be to consider joining our instructor staff. This will provide you an opportunity to share your expertise to less experienced performers working at the Indy Actor Studio.
How can Indy Actor Studio help me advance my career beyond workshop sessions?
Indy Actor Studio was specifically designed to work on all aspects of the performer’s career pursuits. Many limitations that prohibit a performer from achieving success extends far deeper than the learning programs developed. The inclusion of our certified coaching program is a key ingredient to help you break free of subconscious challenges, and force you to develop a focused business plan for success. We have also aligned Indy Actor Studio with various agents, casting directors, producers, and directors in Los Angeles, Chicago and New York to bridge regular communication with them in order to be able to highlight the work of the performer’s participating in our programs.
Does working as a extra help my acting career?
First off, acting is a business therefore every actor has the right to develop their professional acting business under the strategy that best suits their growth, execution and most importantly return-on-time (ROT). For the most part, only you can answer these questions. Extra work is something every actor will do at one point in their career. Then they will ask if the ROT is beneficial and that typically determines what actions the take based on answering that one question.
Extra work on television provides you a great understanding of set experience BUT you probably can win the grand jackpot lottery first before you will be given a role by doing extra work on television. The reason for this is because, as you now know by working on a television set, is that television is very precise. Every second being filmed in precision. Also, casting is separated between extras and speaking roles. Networks and producers of television want to have all approvals to casting talent. However, this is very different in films. My father actually was asked to say a line in the movie “Dave” directed by Ivan Reitman while doing extra work. Why? Because casting directors a finished once a film has started and they are on to the next film. Whereas casting in television is on-going.
The good news its that you have already made a strong line in the sand by only doing extra work a couple of days a week to allow you to pay for classes, get headshots, and expenses you incur as an actor when building an acting business.
Can I audit a class?
No. We value the time of the people already participating in our programs; therefore, we welcome any interested performer to schedule a onsite meeting with our staff. This well let you check out our studio and meet our team members.
